Large Ichneumon - Enicospilus

Large Ichneumon - Enicospilus
SERC, Edgewater, Anne Arundel County, Maryland, USA
June 6, 2015
Size: >1.5"
I've done what I can in Photoshop to separate the venation of this one upper wing from the body and the lower wing - hope I got it right and that this helps with ID.

Moved
Moved from Ophioninae.

A member of the Enicospilus-a
A member of the Enicospilus-americanus complex. Probably E. glabratus but I would need to see the hairs around the glabrous fenestra in the discocubital vein

Ophioninae…
Although vein r-rs is slightly broadened basally (not abruptly curved), vein 1m-cu is not steeply curved or centrally elbowed, suggesting this is not in the Ophion group. Neither is there any evidence that this is Enicospilus. I would suggest leaving this at the current subfamily level for now.

Okay
Thanks for examining it. :)
