Male!
Hartmut, I believe that this wasp is a male. Is that correct? Thanks

No question about it,
certainly a male. Only the male of P. vespoides has this kind of antennal club. Your photo also shows 7 visible tergites.
You should still be able to find females by looking for Penstemon in bloom, the blue and purplish ones, i.e. P. cyananthus.
Have taken the liberty of filling in gender.

I'm in Arizona!
Hartmut, this isn't my image and I don't want to leave any more comments here, if it's not needed. I sent you an email about some other things, BTW. Thanks
