broken fir stennies - Stenus

broken fir stennies - Stenus
Jefferson Notch Road, Coos County, New Hampshire, USA
May 5, 2007
Size: about 4.5 mm
Found two of this, the smaller of two similar rove types, seemingly out of place in freshly-snapped and broken fir where Tom Murray and I searched for sa*p beetles and bar*k beetles along our hike to and from Jefferson Notch.

Faintly-seen rule marks represent half-millimeters.
