Lots of these on a fallen oak on our hillside. Thought they looked a lot like Nematodes sp.

I think it's a beetle
I think that's another beetle inside the burrow. Some of these have really weirdly-shaped antennae. I'll go catch some and get some proper photos.

 
oh! the antenna looks totally geniculate...
...thought otherwise i can't make out much detail

 
Mating aggregation?
There were 3 or 4 of these chasing each other around, then the lead one went into that burrow. I just took this photo and went back to robber flies. Now I want to get them identified.
