Small green bee on tomato flowers - Augochloropsis metallica - female

Small green bee on tomato flowers - Augochloropsis metallica - Female
Montgomery County, Maryland, USA
June 12, 2015
These seem to be the only bees in my area with an interest in the tomatoes. They cling to the flower and then buzz pretty loudly ("sonicating" according to the inter-webs). The three photos here were of the same bee from different angles.

Augochlorini
Likely Augochloropsis metallica

These like to buzz Solanaceae

An image of one buzzing appeared in a Natioanl Geographic feature on bees. Too bad it was misidentified and that the Nat Geo editors couldn't be bothered with a correction (correct identifications are evidently more important for birds)
