Size: Approx. 3"
We live in a heavily wooded area with year round leaves on the ground in the Piedmont Region. This millipede was found under the leaves.

Xystodesmidae
A flat backed millipede in Xystodesmidae, it appears to be a male Apheloria tigana.

Another should confirm before moving to species level.
