When this big syrphid noisily buzzed past me, I truly thought it was a vespid. It wasn't until it landed on a Rhodedendron leaf nearby that I realized I was wrong. Very convincing!

I'm hoping this is indeed Temnostoma excentrica because it would be new for me and also the first submission from WA state. Any help in confirming ID would be much appreciated.
