Pauropod

Pauropod
Richmond Hill, York Region, Ontario, Canada
May 6, 2007
Size: ~ 1.5 mm
This creature seems to have many legs but few segments (each of which bears a pair of long setae). It reared up once, revealing that the body thickens towards the anterior end (so the animal is facing left in this image). I'm unfamiliar with centipede species and even less so with their young, so I can't tell what I'm looking at and would appreciate an ID. Found in decaying leaf litter.

This is a totally different, tiny arthropod, a representative of the Class Pauropoda, commonly called pauropods. Rowland Shelley, North Carolina State Museum of Natural Sciences

Pauropod... neat stuff
Pauropoda
... neat stuff

That was quick!
And neat indeed ... I see the forked antennae now. Thanks again!
