17 Year Magicicada ID - Magicicada - Male Female

I made this ID chart originally to help some of my friends separate the three different species emerging right now in Brood IV. I am posting a modified version in the ID request section of the guide. All the information and data listed are derived from Dr. Cooley's website (magicicada.org) and Cicada Mania. If the mods find this useful, they can include it in the guide. If not, feel free to frass, thanks!

this is super helpful and interesting, thanks!

You're Welcome!
Glad you found it amusing!

Yeah, I think it's nice to be able to see all the species next to each other to compare. I was in Nebraska on May 15-17, but missed the emergence by about two weeks! I've been watching all the reports on magicicada.org, so now I know exactly where to go in 2032 :)

We had a few...
...individuals emerged on the second week of May. Unfortunately, this year was oddly cool and rainy and much of the "heavy" emergence areas got pushed back a few days to a week.
