This is a most interesting fly.
We can`t see a facial stripe but totally black antennae and the dark hind femora and mostly dark tibia and genital capsule with long woolly pile would suggest Helophilus hybridus .... male but Texas?
It may have to stay in Helophilus but I have sent it Dr. Martin Hauser.

 
The antenna look rather black
The antenna look rather black, but I still think this might be fasciatus. The abdominal pattern fits fasciatus better than hybridus. But without the face we might not know for sure...

 
I agree. The markings on terg
I agree. The markings on tergite 2 and tergite 3 are usually touching at side margins and the frons isn`t wide enough for latifrons. This is destined to stay in Helophilus.
