Grasshopper...? - Morsea

Grasshopper...? - Morsea
Triunfo Creek Park (Pentachaeta Trail), Ventura County, California, USA
June 18, 2015
This grasshopper was in a dense shrub of mountain mahogany in a valley chaparral habitat of fair elevation. Apart from those long hind legs and odd head shape it seems relatively normal...?

Curious to know what species it is. I wondered if this was the usual resting pose of the grasshopper and that the hindlegs might just be weirdly posed, but it kept this position consistently after jumping.

definitely a eumastacid
I don't have any resources to ID these, so I'm hesitant to say anything more, but californica seems very likely.

Moved from ID Request.

Monkey?
Chaparral Monkey Grasshopper Morsea californica?

Way out of my field of study. Wait for an expert.
