Thanks for clearing this one up and looking into these eumolpines Ed. We`re getting a very good portion of the species out there with pictures by now.

I think
ID of this one has to be verified. The pronotum is more globulare and larger than in the other Brachypnoea in the guide. Different genus?

Not in an other genus, but maybe there is some other species in Texas I don´t know about or maybe it is just standing up right....

I never saw it feeding. But I'll keep a look-out for it in the future.
