Monarch Caterpillar - Danaus plexippus

Size: 2 inch
I know these are common but they have become few and far between. We have a field with many common milkweeds - the two caterpillars I spotted were close to the road on the undersides of the milkweed plants.

note pale break in the exoskeleton betw head capsule and tentacle...
