Bernard Field Station, Claremont, Los Angeles County, California, USA

On Royal Penstemon (Penstemon spectabilis) at the Claremont Colleges' Bernard Field Station. I think this may be a female Bird Hover Fly (Eupeodes volucris), but correction or confirmation would be greatly appreciated!
