Unknown butterfly - Speyeria atlantis - Male

male Speyeria atlantis
A few tips to remember. Wide black scaling along veins of front wings (works better in males, which have androconia there, than in females); nearly solid black border on outer margin of upper side (also better on males); gray (not brown) eyes - though admittedly, in this shot, there is a bit of color shift that makes the eyes look a tad brownish. Also, not 100% reliable, but usually true, the second round black submarginal (or is it better called postmedian?) spot up from the anal angle (first one is hard to see in this shot, but second is clear) usually has a halo, making it a pupilled eye spot on S. aphrodite, while usually solid black on S. atlantis (as here).

Moved from Aphrodite Fritillary.

Further research suggest Grea
Further research suggest Great Spangled Fritillary. Can anyone confirm please?

Aphrodite Fritillary
Note faint basal spot of dorsal forewing which Great Spangled does not have and ventral pattern of hindwing also indicates Aphrodite.
