Found underneath lerp of Spotted Gum Lerp Psyllid (Eucalyptolyma maideni) on Spotted Gum. Was a bit surprised to find it and unfortunately didn't get a good photo. I know I've seen one of these in the guide before but I can't recall what it is ... beetle larva of some kind? Will most likely frass after ID as I'm sure the guide doesn't need this image, but I'd like to get a name so I can get a better understanding of what was going on here.

Could be good...
Eucalyptus are not checked very well. The potential for Australian importation is fairly decent, so this might be something from "down under".

If you know the tree, might be worth checking for adults or pupa. It does not look like any Diomus, Nephus, Rhyzobius or Rodolia that we know are in Cal, though it could be a very young one.

Thanks James! I'm currently trying to document all the life stages of all the eucalypt psyllids in CA so if there is some sort of association then perhaps I'll run into this one again - hopefully some adults or pupae as you said.

Makes sense
Be it predatory, there were plenty of good eats about.

Hope to get better pics soon.
