Looks like a Camponotus queen. I'll not try to guess species without getting better at learning the specific differences between the candidates for your area.
(1 inch seems a big estimate, but they are big ants.)

Thanks.Worker in my photo 1025502 live in the area around out house. Next door neighbor's had a bad infestation of carpenter ants.
