Thrips with Eggs of Parasite?

Thrips with Eggs of Parasite?
Ascension Parish, Louisiana, USA
Size: <1mm
I know this is a thrips but I'm unsure if the mass on its back is eggs of a parasite or some defect/injury. This individual was essentially motionless while the rest were very active. The flower it's on is lantana.

The first is a wide shot. The second is a 100% crop.

Thanks in advance.
