Bee-like Robber fly - Laphria sackeni

Bee-like Robber fly - Laphria sackeni
Aromas, Monterey County, California, USA
June 9, 2015
This large bee-like robber fly was found in our garden in northern Monterey County. I believe it is a member of the genus Laphria but am hoping that someone with more experience with these flies might be able to give a species-level ID. Thank you!

Laphria
After finding and working through S.W.Bullington's key to the western Laphria and reading Eric Fisher's informative comments, it seems clear that this is L. sackeni.
