Myopa clausa? Is M. vicaria I
Myopa clausa? Is M. vicaria ID not premature?

Not Myopa vicaria, but M. clausa
There are only four Myopa species in eastern N.A., M. clausa, vicaria, virginica and vesiculosa. This is M. clausa, as it's the only all-red species east of the Rockies, as well as having clear wings (unlike the other three eastern spp.) and semi-circular patches of very fine white hairs on each side of several abdominal segments. M. vicaria would have visibly darkened cross-veins, a distinct white 'beard', and long black hair on the thorax.
