Unknown Invader - Arocatus melanocephalus

Unknown Invader - Arocatus melanocephalus
Clarkston, Asotin County, Washington, USA
July 3, 2015
Size: 6 - 7 mm
These appear black to the naked eye, and occur in large numbers. Unable to find any association with any plant in the landscape. Very similar to the tan-colored lygus bugs that we have seen in large numbers as nuisance pests for seemingly forever (long before I started in pest control twenty years ago). Three of our customers have had these now, in different parts of town. Quite curious as to what this species is, since nobody here has ever seen it, and there are so many where they are being reported.

Moved & cropped for the guide; by far the best shot of this bug
...posted so far on BG --thanks!

Moved from ID Request.

Elm Seed Bug?

They're known to invade homes in the summer to escape the heat.

Others will be able to confirm or correct.

That makes sense . . .
... especially as they have been reported a few counties south of my location. My money is on your ID being correct; their appearance, behavior, and recently reported proximity all fit the bill.

And we've all been trying to escape the heat lately!
