This ventral view of another female (had died) shows that the coxae of the forelegs (arrow) are definitely orange, not black as expected for Bibio femoratus. This is a pic down a dissecting microscope with limited depth of field -- the wavy grey lines are the distal ends of the legs, out of focus.
