Male of Crape Myrtle Bark Scale (Eriococcus lagerstroemiae) - Acanthococcus lagerstroemiae - Male
Shreveport, Louisiana, USA
Males are pink, winged and have two long white filaments at tip of the abdomen. The fore wings have reduced venation, and the hind wings have been lost altogether, along with the mouthparts. Males have one pair of eyes in dorsal and another pair of eyes in the ventral side of the head.
