Minute Brown Scavenger Beetle - Cartodere bifasciata

Minute Brown Scavenger Beetle - Cartodere bifasciata
Seattle, King County, Washington, USA
May 13, 2007
Size: 2mm
I thought that this was some kind of dark sprin*gtail when I first saw it. Then I took the photograph and zoomed in and found that this was one of those new beetles I've found. It was next to a yard waste container that was full of rotting grass.

Possibly C. nodifera?
Not a lot of detail to work off in this photo, so I could be mistaken, but I'm not sure I am seeing the pattern I would associate with C. bifasciata and I do think I see the ridges that would be characteristic of C. nodifera.
