ant anatomy
Wow! This is a great layout of an ants anatomy. I have been around bugs my entire life and never knew there was that much too an ants body. Thanks alot this site is very helpful to me as I work for a sarasota pest control bussiness and sometimes its nice to show the bossman up!

Yes, should be fine
Yes, you can see the source on Wikimedia Commons. Out of courtesy, you should probably give a link to the original.

Shouldn't this be in the glossary?
I forgot where this was from the other day and went looking for it this morning. My first stop was the glossary but couldn't find it there, obviously.
Shouldn't all such things be in the glossary?

IMHO, no
I have been putting things like a generic diagram of a wing or a leg under such entries in the glossary. For diagrams that pertain to a particular organism, or group of organisms, as in this case, I have been filing them at the appropriate taxonomic level and checking the image as non-representative. Glossary entries for all the various terms would then have this as a thumbnail. (This particular diagram has so many glossary terms associated with it, which one would one chose to have it placed under, anyway?)
Systems for filing images are always going to be imperfect. Most things, at any rate, can be found with a search, so one can find them, usually, with a bit of effort.

I uploaded graphics showing each section separately--they should be legible now at screen resolution.

Limitations of clicks
Only editors can get the large image, which Joe currently is not. I'm going to do some smaller sections when I get a chance--they will work better as thumbnails anyway.

Roger that--glossary in progress
Yes, I was planning on writing some ant-specific terms into the
glossary
and using these diagrams in them, but have not gotten to it yet. What has happened so far in the glossary is that individual terms are entered, and then the corresponding diagram is placed on the page with a thumbnail. I've done that with a bunch of terms, but, as I said, have not gotten around to this set yet. (Any other editor is, of course, welcome to jump right in, especially on who knows ants!)
As to where to place the graphics, they could be placed in the glossary tree, as I have done for a few things, but since these are specific to ants, so I put them there in the tree.
(Edit... I added one term,
alitrunk
, so you can see the diagrams in use, others TBA.)
