Catocala Maybe amatrix - Catocala amatrix

Catocala Maybe amatrix - Catocala amatrix
Trinity River Refuge HQ building., Liberty County, Texas, USA
June 23, 2015
I updated the genus for this guy as one comment belives (as now I do) that it is most likely Catocala amatrix. That guy is not shown for TX though. It is the only view I have.

Moved
Moved from Underwings.

Moved
Moved from Noctuoidea.

C. amitrix looks probable, but at you know I don't make Catocala species placements.

Catocala
Maybe amatrix

I updated the genus for this guy so that others can comment also. I also deleted that Catocala of mine that you questioned. I did change it to a C. maestosa. Thanks

I believe you are correct. I never would have looked at Catocala amatrix, but the wing pattern looks spot on. I need to see if I have a dorsal view, but this lateral view is very clear. It is not shown for TX though, so others will have to agree before it is added. Thanks

Moved to Noctuoid
Moved from Moths.

Getting it out of the moth basement, and back into circulation, Stuart
