Cicindela sp.. - Cicindelidia politula
Davis Mountains Preserve, Jeff Davis County, Texas, USA
July 11, 2015
Possibly C. pulchra dorothea?
But that seems to be an open desert/grasslands species, and this was seen in a mid/high-elevation Ponderosa Pine forest.

ID
This is a representative of the C.barbarannae/laetipennis group. By current nomenclature it would be Cicindela politula barbarannae, but in this location they have a less complete marginal band.

Range
Interesting, thanks Stephen. That does seem like a good fit.

My copy of the Pearson et al. field guide doesn't have any of the C. politula subspecies as being present in these Davis Mtns, which are a fairly large and well-studied mountain range to the south and east of the known sites described in Pearson et al. Do you know of any more-recent surveys that have found them here?

Yes, I first found them there
Yes, I first found them there in 1987, fairly common. Others have collected them there over succeeding years as well. While the type locality is vicinity of Hueco Tanks, there are other known locations in west Texas and New Mexico not mentioned in Pearson as well. The Davis mountains are not as well studied as you might think.
