Hedgerow Hairstreak - Satyrium saepium

Grant county - just below where the Morrow and Umatilla County lines border Grant County, Northwestern Grant County, Oregon, USA

We realize that our locality is well north of this butterfly's range, however, we can find nothing in our guidebooks that matches it so nearly.

Hedgerow Hairstreak ID
It is very clear from our image that this Hedgerow Hairstreak identified by commentators does not have the white frosted area over the HW postmeidan line (as found in the Mountain Mahogany). Thanks for your help.

I agree with Satyrium saepium. Oregon is well within the range or this species, it occurs all the way to British Columbia.

Thanks very much Mike, we accept your identification of this hairstreak. We did further research and are absolutely convinced you are correct. Whereas you've been an amateur entomologist for 17 years, we've been amateur butterfly-ologists for about 17 days!
