Moved from Giant Crane Fly. One of my other routine sites from that time--a pharmacy that kept spotlights on its walls all night. Highway 55 and Sedwick, Durham NC. Near the convergence of a little stream called Burdens Creek with the larger Northeast Creek. Coordinates:

Tipula (Nippotipula) metacomet
This is a female Tipula metacomet based on observable features of the evenly dark femur and tibia, the dark brown wing stigma, dark brown abdominal tergite 1. This species has a long emergence period from spring to early fall.
