In preparation for the BugGuide gathering, Tom West had mowed all the trails (that's LOTS of mowing) for easier foot access. The resulting edges made it perfect for observing, photographing and collecting bugs. After hiking several other areas on previous days, on Sun. morning the group enjoyed trails that went through swamp, grassy fields and mixed pine/deciduous forest. The sweeping views of the farm from the hillside were stunning and the number of insects was, at times, a bit overwhelming. Vicky West graciously served as guide on all our excursions, which made it much harder to get lost.
