Woolly Ground Beetle - Eleodes osculans

Woolly Ground Beetle - Eleodes osculans
Lake Hodges, Rancho Bernardo, San Diego County, California, USA
January 12, 2003
Size: body length about 12 mm
This is one of the beetles that is almost a sure bet to see in the winter. It isn't as noticable in the warm months when the area is flooded with other tenebrionids. This one was under a rock in coastal sage scrub habitat.
