I checked the original descriptions for the nominate race and it's previous synonyms. Size cannot be used to separate the races but range probably can be. If so, I guess this is technically the "long-winged" race but the original meaning has been lost.
Grandipennis
, latin for "great wings", was originally described as a race of
Doryodes bistrialis
. The epithet was used to distinguish this race from the nominate race. Application of the common name to the race
grandipennis
may no longer be appropriate.

grandipennis
