Cleg fly - Lipoptena

Delighted to finally catch one of these guys. They land on me at least once an outing but tumble off very quickly. Based on what I can find it seems it is probably Lipoptena depressa, the only species in California. If not, then it is the only species in that genus in California.

I never appreciated how weird they look before today!
