Embaphion contusum - male

Embaphion contusum - Male
Almagordo, Nr. White Sands, along rt 70, Otero County, New Mexico, USA
August 8, 2006
Size: 2.2cm
Embaphion is a very distinct species. Most have this super convex pronotum. Also the pseudoepipleura ridge is present, giving the elytra a convex look. The humeral angle of the elytra is visible outside the overlapping posterior pronotal extensions and the male has a distinc cauda (the tip of the elytra that looks like it would protect the protruded genitalia) making this Embaphion contusum
