Cixiidae on Artemisia - Oeclidius

Cixiidae on Artemisia - Oeclidius
Triunfo Creek Park, Los Angeles County, California, USA
July 23, 2015
Size: 4mm ish
A small one on Artemisia californica (sagebrush). The white tip to the abdomen was very obvious, however it does not seem to be colouration, rather some external attachment...

Moved

not a cixiid
This one is a kinnarid, genus Oeclidius. Someone needs to move it where it belongs.

Thanks Doug
It seems there are 3 options of the known species, fraternus, nanus/brickellus and transversus.

Andy Hamilton seems to suggest there are only 2 species with the dark wing spot and three thorax lines (fraternus and brickelii/us) at .

It doesn't look like that one IDed to fraternus, and the apical cells are less in quantity. So brickellii/us AKA nanus fits on the description, and also by process of elimination.

If the species really are monophagous I guess that helps.
