one horrible thing about this subfamily is that members of different genera produce very similar, tantalizingly "distinctive," color forms

Looks like ones with these markings end up as Homaeleus proteus
I have never thought to photograph ventral side of these before. I have some pics showing part of the underside, do you know what details need to be seen?

the important parts...
...are usually the osteolar area (the scent gland outlet) and the bucculae (crests on the underside of head that flank the furrow where the resting proboscis goes)
not sure what is critical in this case, but suspect the latter
