Cross between a dragonfly and stick bug? Dobsonfly! - Corydalus cornutus
Columbus, Colorado County, Texas, USA
May 18, 2007
Size: 3 1/2 inches long, horns
I went in the house from the yard and garage, looked down and saw this looking at me. It was on my shirt. I shrieked and flicked it off and it landed on the floor. It has 4 narrow wings but it has not tried to fly. A neighbor couldn't ID it but she doesn't think it could bite or poison. So now it's in a mason jar. It has 4 little curly appendages at its rear end.

Dobsonfly
Thanks to all who helped me ID it.

Dobsonfly (Corydalus)
It is probably one of the Dobsonflies.
