Texananus
subgenus Iowanus. Pretty sure you need an underside shot of the genitalia to tell species

Question
Hi, Kyle--thanks for the ID! Could you explain how to differentiate this subgenus from Japanese Leafhopper (Orientus ishidae)?

Hi Scott
If you were to compare this subgenus to Japanese, Japanese is smaller. Japenese adults can be variable in color, but there is typically a fair amount of orange on their bodies. This Texananus subgenus is sort of uniform in coloration, except for the pale vertex, while Japanese are not typically as uniform. I also think of Japanese as more cylindrical, Texananus are wider. Hope that helps

leafhopper
Is there any way to move this back to ID Request? I know it's a leafhopper, but I was hoping someone would have the chance to narrow it down more than that.

it was moved for expert attention
experts rarely look in the ID Request; well, very few of them ever do -- it would be a waste of time, so editors try to sort things asap to places where the experts are most likely to see them
you can always move you pics back [or to any guide page, for that matter], but it will be moved to family or deeper by the next editor cleaning up the ID Request
