Lucanidae? - Platycerus oregonensis
Fairfax, Marin County, California, USA

Size: just over 1 cm.
Found on the ground in vicinity of live oak, black oak, tan oak, Douglas fir, about 15' from water.

this is platycerus oregonensis. I love their metallic blue wings, they prettiest small lucanids I have ever seen. :)
