This is not a grass spider, it is a classic Rabidosa, which is a wolf spider.

The eye pattern is much different, and the light/dark brown striping is a dead giveaway for this genus.

Thanks for your help. The spider is still in a potted plant, lethargic, but alive . It may have been attacked by a wasp. Charles Baxter

 
Rabidosa rabida
The mature males of R. rabida are the only ones in the genus with dark colored front legs.
