Robber fly with a prey - Proctacanthella - Male
Illinois Beach State Park, Lake County, Illinois, USA

Size: 12-14 mm
This robber fly caught a fly on a sand/gravel path between the dunes There were many hunting on the path mostly females. i think this is male.I would appreciate the prey identified if possible.
