Rare bee in St. Paul - Paranthidium jugatorium - female

Rare bee in St. Paul - Paranthidium jugatorium - Female
University of Minnesota St. Paul campus, Ramsey County, Minnesota, USA
July 30, 2015
Found in a pollinator garden next to Green Hall. I was surprised to find several of these rare bees visiting a small patch of threadleaf Coreopsis. I captured a male, took him into the lab, chilled him, and compared him with a specimen in the museum to verify the ID. I don't know the key characters for the subspecies, so I'll leave that to John Ascher or whoever else knows.
