Pintalia - Pintalia vibex

Pintalia - Pintalia vibex
n.w. Austin, Travis County, Texas, USA
July 30, 2015
Size: TL 5.75mm
[Edited 8/3/15] This planthopper keys out to Pintalia sp. in Kramer (1983)(1) and in the photographic key to N. Am. Cixiidae here. The third image shows the narrow apical FW cells which distinguish this from Monorachis. Total length (measured with mm rule on enlarged image) = 5.75mm. It has expanded basal antennal segments; there is an odd pointed vertical extension on the face; the wings are slightly pubescent. Photographed at a porchlight.
