BONAP (Biota of North America Program) maintains relatively complete phytogeographic and related botanical databases for all free-living vascular plants found in North America (north of Mexico). For over four decades, we have worked collaboratively with many federal and state government agencies, private groups and individuals across the continent to produce and edit our databases.

New York "Species of Greatest Conservation Need" (SGCN)

New York State Species of Greatest Conservation Need - 2015

This list is a revision of the Species of Greatest Conservation Need (SGCN) list, which is part of New York's current Comprehensive Wildlife Conservation Strategy (CWCS). For the development of the State Wildlife Action Plan (SWAP), SGCN and additional nominated species were filtered through a model that evaluated their current status based on factors including abundance and population trends.
