The pool bee - Mallophora fautrix

The pool bee - Mallophora fautrix
Yorba Linda, Los Angeles County, California, USA
August 4, 2015
It was in my pool moving around so I didn't get a good look at it but it was all black other than one yellow patch that I saw on its back. It was pretty large, but it wasn't fat like a bumble bee. It had long wings. I look the picture after I fished it out of the pool with the net. It flew away later in the day.
