Aspects of new taxonomy are not peer reviewed in 2nd edition.
The state of unsupported taxonomy in the 2nd edition is discussed in a book review by M. Jackson in The Coleopterists Bulletin 71(3): 530 - 531, 2017. This matter is briefly addressed at BugGuide's post-2012 Caraboidea Registry.
