Weevil - Ceutorhynchus obstrictus
Guelph, Wellington, Ontario, Canada
May 21, 2007
Size: ~ 2 mm
On a plant which I didn't identify, but I may go back to check later. Has it been placed correctly?

Ceutorhynchus obstrictus --det. B.A. Korotyayev
Moved from Ceutorhynchus.

Moved

Ceutorhynchus sp.

Ceutorhynchus sp.
Robert Anderson det.

I have added
a photo of the suspected host plant.

thanks for plant!
As it could be expected (the weevil belongs in the nominate subgenus, nearly all species of which are associated with that family), it belongs in Brassicaceae. And I can tell more: it is Garlic Mustard (Alliaria petiolata). This plant is considered invasive, and for its control now 4 spp. of Ceutorhynchus are tested, but, it seems, none has been released yet (compare this summary)

I know all the four species mentioned, and can say, that yours is none of them. It probably is a native, opportunistic species.

Not Curculio
Curculio spp. are generally larger and often are brown colored. I think this is a different subfamily. Perhaps Boris will narrow it down.
