He took the picture on his wall in the back yard mid afternoon. It was around 100 degrees that day.

Not 100% but i think it is a
Not 100% but i think it is a female stagmomantis limbata nymph based on the shape and colors of the pronotum

The breadth of the abdomen squares up with your observation. I tend to over-think things when the simpler solutions are often best.

Stagmomantis
This is an immature female Stagmomantis species, of which there are at least two, perhaps three in your area. I can't determine the species from this image.
