By Jens Esser
Entomofaunistische Gesellschaft, 2017
Revision of Pteryngium REITTER, 1888 (Coleoptera, Cryptophagidae). – The examination of Pteryngium from Canada, the USA and Europe resulted that the Nearctic specimens and the European specimens are two different species. The name of the European Pteryngium crenatum (FABRICIUS, 1798) must bei changed in P. crenulatum (ERICHSON, 1846). The Fabricius´ name crenatum is a junior synonym of Cryptophagus dentatus (HERBST, 1793).
