Yup...
it is Stethon pectorosus.

I do have a couple of questions for you. When you encountered that eucnemid, does the species quiver its antennae as it walked around? Secondly, did you observe the species utilize a clicking mechanism of any kind? These answered questions will certainly help add information on that species in a paper Jeff Gruber and I are preparing for publication. Thank you and have a great day.

Sorry -- I didn't notice too much about the behavior of this beetle. What I did observe is when disturbed it would pull in the legs and antennae tightly and remained that way for some time before starting to move again. It was attracted to lights on the deck. If one shows up again, I'll observe it more carefully.

thank you. Jeff and I are adding as much behavioral information as possible for one of the paper we are preparing. We discovered the unknown larval types for the species and are missing these information to complete our paper.
